There’ll be a house. And chickens!
Andrea doesn’t remember saying it on the first three dates, but she started making the case early on, no question. After driving down a lot of roads without a lot to show for it, all she’s been wanting in life is a home on the range — where she could breathe fresh air, walk barefoot on the grass, and grow the kind of fresh food on which she — and everyone — thrives. She sold the idea to Hugh, and little by little, he bought it.
So now we’re doing it. We’re not exactly sure what “IT” is. But we have a piece of land and a few ideas, and we’re pretty good at figuring things out. Or we like to think we are.
And who are we? Glad you asked:
Hugh grew up in the country, but he’s lived in the city so long he’s pretty sure he couldn’t catch a fish unless he were at the deli counter at Zabars with a credit card. And… does a rooster need a leash? Well, he’s hoping it might all come back to him — and if it doesn’t, he figures maybe he can do some kind of performance art installation with the hens in the vegetable garden. You know, “Waiting for Tomato” — or something like that. Well, there’s always his day job… as a communications director for a global health organization. He’s also an amateur photographer and completely unknown poet.
Andrea grew up in a big city and learned to take care of business and handle herself in the toughest of environments. But she’s been cultivating a country gal within from inside a little apartment for more than few years now. When she finds herself among trees and wildlife, she blooms like a wildflower. She also has a reputation as a magician in the kitchen — so the garden-to-be has a culinary destiny (that Hugh is definitely coveting). When she’s not helping people free themselves from chronic dis-ease, you will find her trying hard to focus on just one thing… without much success (Shiny Object Syndrome, she calls it).
Will we make it in the woods under the stars? Will our thumbs turn green? Will we manage to get up early enough to feed the chickens and chop the wood? Follow our adventures here and find out for yourself!
